Trump Calls Off Iran Strikes After Surprise Diplomatic Breakthrough
United States President Donald Trump made a statement on Truth Social indicating that he has scrapped plans to launch military attacks on Iran, following very high-level diplomatic talks. According to Trump, the basic framework for the agreement has already been agreed upon at the concept and implementation levels, involving all major parties including the U.S., Israel, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iran, and several other regional countries, although a rigorous naval embargo will continue to exist till the agreement becomes operational. The decision comes in quick succession after several hours of escalating tensions, whereby President Trump had made it clear that he was planning to capture Iran’s Kharg Island and take control of its energy markets, threatening Iran’s military forces of retaliatory action.
